100% Cashless Campus

On-Campus ATM

For the convenience of our students and faculty, an ATM machine has been installed in the lobby of the main building of the campus. This allows students the safety and security of withdrawing any cash they need right on campus and avoids the difficulty and additional expenditure of going into town.

Co-Branded International Debit + ATM Card

An international co-branded Debit cum ATM Card of South Indian Bank will be issued to all students. The card can be used to make all payments inside the campus – at the campus store, at the cafeteria to order À la carte items etc. This frees students from the hassle of carrying around cash. As a first of its kind facility, this card can be used by students anywhere in the world, even after graduating from college

Clubs and Committees

Our core aim at Munnar Catering College is to foster the holistic – intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development of our students.

In this 21st century, the world is changing faster than ever before. The conventional education curriculum, which was developed in the early 20th Century, must be supplemented with a new kind of education and learning that prepares students to thrive and succeed in a rapidly shifting digital world.

Since the early 1980s, a variety of governmental, academic, non-profit, and corporate entities have conducted considerable research to identify key personal and academic skills and competencies they determined were needed for the current and next generation. These skills were called – “21st Century Skills”

The twelve 21st Century Skills

Each 21st Century skill is broken into one of three categories

  1. Learning skills
  2. Literacy skills
  3. Life skills

Learning skills (the four C’s) teaches students about the mental processes required to adapt and improve upon a modern work environment.

  • Critical thinking: Finding solutions to problems
  • Creativity: Thinking outside the box
  • Collaboration: Working with others
  • Communication: Talking to others

Literacy skills (IMT) focuses on how students can discern facts, publishing outlets, and the technology behind them. There’s a strong focus on determining trustworthy sources and factual information to separate it from the misinformation that floods the Internet.

  • Information literacy: Understanding facts, figures, statistics, and data
  • Media literacy: Understanding the methods and outlets in which information is published
  • Technology literacy: Understanding the machines that make the Information Age possible

Life skills (FLIPS) take a look at intangible elements of a student’s everyday life. These intangibles focus on both personal and professional qualities.

  • Flexibility: Deviating from plans as needed
  • Leadership: Motivating a team to accomplish a goal
  • Initiative: Starting projects, strategies, and plans on one’s own
  • Productivity: Maintaining efficiency in an age of distractions
  • Social skills: Meeting and networking with others for mutual benefit

Altogether, these categories cover all twelve 21st Century skills that contribute to a student’s future career. This is not an exhaustive checklist of career readiness skills — but they’re the career readiness skills that overlap with 21st Century skills.

Clubs and Committees

Co-curricular activities, those activities which are undertaken along with academic studies, are the best way to give students the opportunity to practice and master these 21st century skills. To that end, we have several clubs and committees representing a range of interests and fields that students can choose to join. Each activity that these clubs organize is structured in such a way that students get to showcase and learn these 21st century skills.
